How to disable "Air Suspension Fault" after Arnott conversion
#81
For the shocks you can do one of two things
Splice them into the 2 wires at the shock or at the ASM (I posted all the values and pins to use)
For the front height sensor you can do one of two things
Either strap the sensor into position (so it does not move) or replace it with a pair of resistors. Use the pins and values I posted earlier
I assume you have already blocked the front airlines. If you haven't time to so or you will be leaking air and not have sufficient to run the rear air struts.
Finally you need to calibrate the suspension using SDD. Have SDD do a calibrate which will store the current values. You can then adjust the height of the rear to match.
The reason you need to fix the front height sensors is to stop the ASM attempt to adjust the front which will effect the rear. Take a read of the dealer manual posted by Don and if your still not sure ask.
Cheers

Arnott sent me the override part. You have to remove the back seat bottom and back, then move away the cover for the module. Evidently the mechanic who installed the replacement shocks had already removed the four harnesses from the module as he should have done. I had to attach four wires to one of the harnesses. Problem solved.
It took me longer to get the seats out than to connect the part.
Thanks to Arnott for following up with this problem and sending the fix.

Bypass after coil conversion installed?
Hi,
I have just fitted the coil conversion (but my kit came without the bypass module )
So now I have a few questions.
1) Should I remo e the Air Compressor of just take out the fuse?
2) Should I unplug the CATS device begind the seat?
3) I am literally sitting at the workshop as they are installing and can't find any answers to the above anywhere on the net!
However I was getting so annoyed with the Air Suspension I had no choice but to change.
To be honest I don't really care if the "Suspension fault" light comes on until I find a solution, but need to be sure that no other issues will arise from simply tying back the old sensor/air cable and just finally getting a good drive from my Jag again?!!
Please help.
Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert. You simply unplug the electrical connector to the air compressor, and leave it unplugged. Now, the Arnott coil/spring conversion kit does not come with any bypass module. Instead, the rear seat of the vehicle must be removed to access the air suspension control module. This module is located on the passenger side of the rear seat, and the insulation is simply pulled forward to gain access to the module. Unplug all cables to that module, tuck the insulation back in, and reinstall the rear seat. After the coil/spring conversion is complete, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a good 15-20 minutes, and reconnect the negative terminal. This will give the ECM a hard reboot which will permanently remove all faults.

As per thread
Hi Rikki,
Thanks a million for the advise and reply.
I did provisionally just remove the fuse for the air compressor and thats done the job.
As expected I got the Air suspension fault and an additional CATS system error too.
I shall next do as you advised and trust that will overide / erase the error codes popping up for the now "fictional" air shocks and all should be fine..
Just a note to other Jag XJ 350 owners the conversion is worth its weight in gold.
The ride is wonderful and the lack of worry is priceless.
Cheers

Pod & Rickkk,
For clarity, could you please post the years and models of your Jaguars? There are some differences in the air suspension system depending on year (and even VIN) so it would help us to know on which years the procedure Rickkk outlined is confirmed to work.
Cheers,
Don
