Default How to mute phone call when using bluetooth?

I like the ability to have a hands free telephone conversation in my car (2006 XJ Vanden Plas) using the available bluetooth connection.

Does anybody know how to temporarily MUTE and then UN-MUTE the connection?

I have an 06 VDP as well and have not been able to do this. I do not think that the blue tooth in this car can do this. I hope I am wrong and somebody can answer this question.

Pressing the button on the steering wheel mutes the call by hanging up. Not a good way to go. I don't know of any way to do it other than to turn down the volume. You can always mute it on the handset if it's handy, but that's not ideal at all.

Default Use the phone device Mute button

I have found that using the Mute button on the actual phone device will successfully mute the phone conversation which is otherwise Bluetooth projected into the Jaguar's sound system.
