Default I knew Jaguar parts would be $$$, but really?!

So I have finally become a Jaguar owner. Read my post about my journey home for a good laugh...

As part of the scar from the trip (self imposed nonetheless...) I would like to replace the 6 inch section of air line that runs to the pressure tank in the trunk. I called Jaguar this morning, and they want $110 for it. I laughed and said, why not just sell me a section of the line and I will put the old connectors on it. You can only buy it in 4 meter sections for $88.

Ya, no.

Sorry, but that is past silly.

It is 4mm OD PVC and needs to take about 250 PSI.

I am not sure if that is easy to obtain.

The fittings are Voss and one of their distributors refused to sell me a couple. Ba****ds!

If your hose is repairable your best bet may be to put another joint in it using different fittings.

Note that you need olives for plastic pipe which are different to those for metal pipe.

It's working fine how it is, with the T in the line and a plug on the third port. I just wanted to return to stock. Not worth it for over $100. Maybe I'll find a parts car.

I have to admit it's difficult, but not impossible

1. Column lighting switch - £125 = $187
2. Bonnet, (hood) release cable - £25 = $38
3. Air con fan control - £107 = $160
4. LH side repeater lamp - £68 = $102
5. Driver door latch £170 = $255
6. Boot lid gas struts, (aftermarket) - 2 @£14 =£28 = $42

Of course if you want to add in labour charges it can get expensive, even at independents. And I must admit I have had a few bills a lot larger than $300 !!

I can honestly say that I have never paid a labor charge on my Jag.

All European luxury car parts are pricey, just goes with the territory. I have an Audi and it's right there with Jaguar. I justify it to myself with the "you want to play in this league? You then pay the price." The thing that is attractive about these cars is partly the exclusivity. They get it partly by being unaffordable to most folks. It's kind of funny, I also have a Jeep Wrangler for playing in the sand. I just got a new TPS for it for $32. I rest my case.

Default Vello

Congrates on the Vello ownership.

Can't believe parts for that are cheap or readily available in the US.
Certainly aren't in the UK !

Enjoy your machine.

I had a Vello 350 and loved that beautiful long-stroke engine.
I can even remember endlessly polishing the timing cover !

Best regards

In case anyone stumbles on this thread, I just wanted to clarify...there are two sizes of air line on the car. 4mm and 6mm.
I now own 5 feet of both sizes...if anyone ever needs some, let me know, and I'd be happy to share. I needed 8 inches, so the rest will collect dust.
