Default Incredible Mileage

Had the Throttle Body replaced in my '04 XJ8 back in April. Took a road trip from San Antonio to Austin this weekend (~85 miles). Light traffic, cruise control at 75 almost the whole way. Trip computer said 32.1 mpg right as we hit Austin city limits. Keep this up, the fuel savings might pay for the replacement by the time the car is ready for the salvage yard.

I get about 23-25 mpg on my daily commute (20 miles one way on expressway).

I love this car!

You gotta love that six-speed tranny! Although San Antonio to Austin is mostly down hill (~200 feet), I suspect your round trip would be in the 27-28 mpg area <-- still fantastic for a car of that size.

I'm also very satisfied with the gas mileage - on a recent 300 mile round trip, almost all freeway, my average was 37.5 mpg (UK Gallons), cruising at about 70 - 75 mph. Checked the figure at the first fill up and found the dash reading to be quite accurate. 2004 VDP.

When I drove the car from Dallas to Virginia when it was three years old, the best mileage for a tank was 34.1 and it hovered in this area the entire trip. It was all highway miles but pretty great. The road mileage for my commuting is more like 28.

Bud, how are you doing that? I get around 17 in the city, and 25 on the highway. I am in chicago too and believe they do something to the gas here to make it burn faster. I experienced much better mileage in places like georgia and missouri.

I average 19 in the city - In California we don't not get to go as fast as we want (too many drivers) but when I do, I float by others like they are standing still.

Yesssss!
