ipod connectivity revisited
greetings! so i did a search on ipod connectivity, and got a whole page of information. i am a little confused though. dealership and someone on another jaguar forum mentioned that while there was an acm that would allow ipod connectivity, it seems that apple changed some of the software so that newer generations of ipods ( like ipod nano 4th gen) would not communicated well or at all. i would have to use an older ipod. also from the posts, it seems that there is a shortage of these units from the dearler, but i have to ask for x- or s-type unit. and then there is the unusual controlling of the ipod. sooo, will an acm control the new ipods and iphone (so i could use pandora)? i already had done the aux ports from the rear previously, but it is too inconvenient to reach to the back to mess with it. i don't want to do the xm/sirius radio route just yet. so i was thinking of doing an fm modulator using an antenna in jack adaptor (chrysler i believe does the square ones)...has anyone found this a viable solution? i have the upgraded premium sound system with NAV in my 2004 XJ VDP.....and by the way, where IS the rear subwoofer? i played with the adjustment but could not hear or feel any difference.
thankyou in advance, wm

My iPhone4 works perfectly fine with the latest firmware. Also Pandora works great now as well as any other audio apps. So if you wanted Sirius, instead of getting it installed in the ashtray, you could just get the app!
jahummer...we're talking about the ACM, right? the one that is listed for x- and s-types with the latest firmware from the website (denso-something or another)? or do they already come witht the latest firmware already loaded? wm
There are a number of threads regarding this topic in this forum.
The Denso Gateway 500 works with the XJ series fitted with the touch screen head unit. Depending on where you source it, you may need to update the firmware, but it is a simple process. I do not believe the make it anymore, but there are still some sources I believe that may have some in stock. You may try dealers, as well as a few of the more known websites such as Coventry West, etc.

Look at this post for answers about the ACM including firmware update. There have been some more recent posts regarding using other adaptors (Direct FM modulator) successfully.
The Jaguar ACM is functionally a gateway 500, but that is just the module. You need to buy a Jaguar ACM because it comes with all the correct cables.
