Default Jaguar Voice

Have a 2007 XJR and want to install the jag voice module, dealer says no longer available. However I can get a used one for a couple hundred, can it be programmed to work in my vehicle?

I got mine from a fellow Jag Forums member in Australia. Check here in the classifieds and also on ebay, including ebay-uk. There's loads of posts on here on how to install, which is quite easy if you're handy.

In most cases you don't need to re-program anything it just works. If needed the dealer can re-program the head unit to recognize it. Do you have microphone installed?

The dealer and our mechanic have never installed a used voice module and said there is a slight possibility that the module is specific to a VIN and may not work in a car it was not originally made for, not sure that makes any sense, but I would hate to buy the module pay for installation and if necessary dealer programming only to find out it won't work in any car other than the original one

Mine was from a 2006 and I installed it on my 2004 with no issues. Can't comment on later models, however.

What year/trim level did Jaguar Voice come as a standard option? I have a 2007 VDP and not sure if I have it.

If you press and hold the mute button on the steering wheel, and the systems responds, then you have it. If it just mutes your radio, then you don't.

I don't have it on my current X350, but I did on my older one. I didn't use it much. Mainly used it for Nav, but I never liked the Nav unit and ended up using Google Maps on my phone anyway.

Speaking about the voice, is there any way to change the voice in the sat nav on my 2005 XJ8 VDP. I can live with it but my wife doesn't like it.
