Default Key Fob Problem - 2006 XJ8

Hello!
I'm having an issue with one of my key fobs for my 2006 Jaguar XJ8. It burns through a brand new battery in about a day. So, if I put in a new battery, it works perfectly. By the second day, it's dead again and does not work. Replace the battery with another and the same thing happens. Fortunately, I have a second key fob and that one works great (replaced the battery at the same time). So, any ideas what could cause a key fob to burn through a battery?

A bad contact ie it's 'on' all the time.-a switch that does not release and is allways 'on'

Right. So, what do I look for? How do I figure out what on the fob is making it always "on"? Sorry for my ignorance here.

Ah. I see them on ebay for about $15. I didn't realize this. I take it there's a way to get a new fob to "register" with my car?

https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/ne...s-for-xj-x350/

get the dealer or whoever has the tools to pair the cut key to the immobilized and they can program the remote at the same time
