Default Key Fob Battery

Just curious, how long are these batteries supposed to last (key fob), I've had the car 8 months and have had to replace the battery 2 times already

Thanks for the feedback, guess it's time for a new fob

I believe the fob just uses a standard CR2032 battery, they're very inexpensive. What I don't quite get is how the dock safely/reliably recharges a non-rechargable battery?

The slot (DOCK) in the console does not charge the battery. I believe what it does, is help the car make contact with the chip in the fob, if it has a problem recognizing it when it is in your pocket. So that you can start the car.

Oh and by the way I had to replace the battery again last week, this time it lasted 4 months

I've had my car for nearly 15 months with no key "fob" battery issues.

Docking port is to allow the car to be started if your electronic key has a flat battery. It does not charge the fob, just bypasses the battery. This is why you have an aluminum key inside the fob to get into the car when the fob is flat.
