Unlock car, get in start motor, then I can't unlock the door, I have to stop Engine, take key out then press unlock on the key fob. Any ideas. Car is a 2004 XJR.

 

I assume you have the 'door locking on driveaway' operating, which only operates when you put car into gear from Park. Once locked, I think you have to first pull the unlock lever, then the door unlatch lever below.
I may be wrong, though. It's not clear in JTIS. What does your Owner Handbook say ?

 

Do you have a central lock/unlock button on the center of the dash console? You should also just be able to pull the inside door handle which manually unlocks the door and automatically unlocks all others.

 

This has happened to me a couple of times-did you try the passenger door handle?
