Default Maintenance performed over the weekend..

Was a busy weekend around my garage.

the Jag got a Mobil 1 with Jag filter oil change, new Jag air filter, new Jag cabin air filter, and a full ZF Transmission service (I bought the kit from the stickies up top).

The Transmission was not that bad other than stripping out 9 of the T27 bolts and having to drill/extract them, mine only held 6qts of fluid.

Does anyone know if the pads on the undercarriage engine/aero tray are necessary? mine were practically disintegrating so I removed them and tossed them.. I did not see/hear any difference on this mornings commute.

The under-trays are there for aerodynamics and protection from road debris. If yours were disintegrating, just think what could have happened to the under side of your car or even broken parts. I think they are very necessary.

nice one on all the work completed

As per hlgeaorge's post I'd say undertray rather than not but all down to the individual I guess.

Also affects aerodynamics and engine cooling. IMO it is very risky to run without it for extended periods of time. Not to mention your engine bay will get filthy.

Im not talking about the tray itself, I'm talking about the plastic covered foam pads that are attached to the tray.. I put the tray back sans the plastic foam pads. Are the Pads necessary?

Funny thing is I completed all the same work to my Jeep Commander the day before.

Next weekend the Benz and the boat gets an oil change.

Foam pads?? I don't have any of those. Maybe mine were removed B4 I got the car or yours were added to stop a rattle or something.

I think I recall seeing pics on the S forum of trays with and without pads as standard.

Maybe it is sound deadening?
