Default Manually Open Sunroof

HI, My sunroof leaked, now it is stuck closed. Not sure of it is the motor or the switch, but the first order of business is to get it open so I can clean the drain holes.

I have removed the upper console, so I can see the motor assembly.

How do I manually crank it?

Thanks

The center portion of the motor has a large slot you can stick a screwdriver into and turn by hand.

When you've removed the upper console, you should see this side of the motor:

That hole to the LEFT? An Allan wrench will fit in there. I think it's a #4 size. Then you just crank it. It shouldn't be difficult to turn it.

yep, that's what I saw, and what I tried and it absolutely will not budge. wondering if the motor has seized and is stopping it turning.

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination - but my guess would be that the motor is hosed if you can't crank your window open ... or something serious is blocking the window itself from moving? I hope someone with more experience is able to help you. All I know is I had an issue with my sunroof (it got stuck open) and I was able to crank it closed using the method I'd outlined.

I took the motor assembly out and it still would not turn, so the issue is the assembly, not the roof, luckily. Anyway I will keep digging. Thank you for the input.

Fortunately, these motors aren't very expensive. I saw a few on ebay for less than $50.
