I need suggestions on a sunroof problem on my 98 XJ8 VDP. Here's the problem:
Activated the sunroof to open it. I opened it 1/4 in the open position to just get some ventilation.
Tried closing the sunroof and it just seemed to want to open even more.
Tried opening the sunroof some more and it would open in increments.
I ended up opening the sunroof all the way and from that point it would not close.
Opened up the sunroof compartment to try to manually close the sunroof and noticed a few thing
1. the sunroof module seems to be ticking when pressing the open switch
but no noise when pressing the close switch
2. There is no hesitation when manually closing sunroof.
3. Track seems to be okay.

I need to know if the module is faulty or if it's the actual motor or both. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What's so ironic is that I complemented my car for being such a worry free vehicle right before I opened the sunroof. Go figure…..
