Default Mina Spoiler

Has anyone tried the rear lip spoiler from Mina? I like the look of a small lip spoiler, but I'm not sure how it would look on my Jag. The picture on Mina's website is artsy, but I'd rather see some shots of it on the car with less artistry and more detail. Here's their picture:

I have a spoiler on my E38 that I got off eBay for $25. It's just a strip of hard rubber they cut off a long roll and shaped the ends of. They sell these for pretty much any car and they're all the same. It looks fine on the E38, but probably because the trunk lip has an edge to it. The trunk actually curves up a little, then turns down 90 degrees. This gives the spoiler a natural place to sit.

The Jag, on the other hand, is a smoothly rounded curve down to the plinth. There is no logical spot for it to sit without looking tacked on. It appears that the Mina spoiler may be shaped a little differently than the eBay ones, but I'm not willing to shell out almost $200 to see how it looks. Does anyone have one of these on their jag?

I had one put on a almost three years ago and I think it really adds a nice touch to the car!

Here is the best shot I have of it unfortunately:

I got one from eBay from a chinese vendor for about 75 bucks. It arrived painted to match. Def worth the money. Looks awesome.

I think it's worth the money. It's not an oversized spoiler so it looks classy on the Jag still. I love how the Mina spoiler looks on my car and it makes it stand out from the other XJs. Click on the attachment below for the picture.

It definitely looks different than the chinese ones. It seems wider front to back.

I have not seen the Chinese spoilers for this. Do you have any pictures of those?

Look at the first picture in my original post of my BMW. Or just seach for "lip spoiler" on ebay. There are a dozen different sellers, but it's all the same. They tell you it's a custom fit for your car, but when you buy one they ask you how long it needs to be and then cut it off a long roll and shape the ends. The look fine when the trunk has a definite lip or edge where the spoiler sits. What I'm afraid of on the Jag is that since the trunk is curved, it will either sit too low against the trunk plinth or look like something draped across the trunk lid if mounted higher. Thee's no definite spot on the Jag where you can say here's the edge of the trunk, and here's the rear panel, except at the plinth which is too low.

IMHO no one can ever tell the difference between the Mina and the Chinese eBay. You just have to choose where to lay it down perfectly. I used blue body shop tape to pick a final destination for the spoiler. Looks classy and perfect. Just like the lip spoiler from the E39 M5. Or the e38 7 series pictured above.

Yeah, I had the same problem when trying to pick a spot to place my spoiler. I used the same technique by using blue tape to pick a final location. I also had to bend the spoiler to follow the shape and curve of the trunk (boot). You will just have to eye-ball it and make markings to see how it looks. Once you decide what looks best to you, then you can place the spoiler and bend it into shape. It would be a good idea to have an extra person or 2, to make sure you get it done correctly.

I saw a 2008 VDP at a car show with a Mina spoiler. It's definitely different from the Chinese eBay ones. It's wider front to back, and not nearly as tall. It's almost a wedge rather than a curve.

My XJR is the one to the left of the VDP, which has "R" badges stuck all over it but it's not an XJR.

I had tried one of the chinese ones to see how it looked and didn't like it. This one looks okay, but I'm still not sure it looks $175 ok. (What really looks ok is that D Type.)
