Its been 6 months since my 2004 XJ8 was deemed a total loss.

Lady ran a red!

I replaced it with a 2004 Lexus LS430. Great car, very reliable, fast, but not my Jag.

I drove a 2004 at a dealer tonight and I brought back such great memories. I think I might sell Lexus and get a 04/05 XJ again.

Any ideas? Am I crazy should I do it or stick with the LS430? If I do it what would you suggest an 04/of 05. 04/05 seem very similar.

 

The only reason we own Jags (or motorbikes etc) is passion, not logic.

Lexus has no characteristics look at the pics quite similar to W140 S Class , I don't think you're crazy at all

 

The Lexus LS430 is much better than the Jaguar in most respects. Better build quality, more dependable/indestructable. Lowest NVH levels, most refinement and best ride quality short of a Rolls Royce.

Sounds great, right? I thought so. But it has no soul! And because of that, it is really just a fancy toaster oven, not a car that you can fall in love with.

 

The accident photo gives me shivers. The rear three quarters, so beautiful ... then the smashed front. Hope the red runner can't sleep from the guilt.

 

It was an old lady in a big old Buick, IIRC. Did she ever come out of that coma? Either way, I don't think there's any reason to wish ill upon somebody because of an (presumably) honest mistake.

But I digress, I still think it's amazing that all your doors opened and closed normally after a crash like that!

 

Sadly the lady passed away from her injuries. I think because although I was banged up, since the Jag saved my life It has a hold on me.

By the way here is a photo of the Buick, just to give you an idea. Same curb weight as an XJ8 (within 100 pounds of one another).

How badly banged up did you get? I thought you walked away without injury!

 

Once again I take my hat off to the Jaguar designers , engineers . Assuming GM is building tough shell cars your Jag wrecked a Buick , it was like that car was a head on collision with a big semi truck instead of your jag

 

How much equity do you have in your Lexus? I think you will find that prices on Jaguars have gone up a little bit over the last year due to the demand for used cars being at an all time high.

Lexus LS430s seem to hold their value much better than Jaguar XJs, so an LS430 of similar mileage/year/condition as an XJ will be much more expensive.
