Muffler delete
some members in AU have; I've considered it. There are like 3 mufflers on the XJ8!
I forget the thread name, but do a search, or look for some of my posts this year.
*in essence some people removed one of the mufflers and did like the added sound - I'd like to hear a bit more of the gorgeous V8 noise myself

I'm preparing to test rear boxes on the S/C (not the N/A)
I dont expect much gain on the S/C with the front muffler set (3 mufflers) delete or with the rear boxes.
Anyway I will be testing on the dyno and the tests will be
1. Stock
2. Stock front and rear dynomax vt
3. Stock front and rear xforce varex
2. Muffler delete and rear dynomax vt
3. Muffler delete and rear xforce varex
As I said I dont expect much change if any to be seen on the dyno and it will really be tuning for sound
The difference with the dynomax vt is it has a spring controlled bypass valve where the varex has an electric bypass. For the tests I will use the remote supplied by xforce to control the varex bypass but If it stays on the car I will connect it to the WOT solenoid
The aim really is to keep the car quiet (no drone) but loud when you plant the foot.
As I also have 100 cell cats which change the tone and make things a bit louder I may not keep the muffler delete. I all depends on how it goes for noise and performance
Cheers

So far I have the flanges done and the mounts welded to the mufflers
So I can now swap rear mufflers and the center section very quickly
Next step is some dyno time, hopefully next week
Before that happens I will be testing the rear mufflers without the center delete.
Im just testing for noise but so far the preference is the Dynomax VT
Both are good but the dynomax does not need connecting to the WOT to activate "Loud Mode". Also the Vartex is slow to move the valve in comparison.
So unless it goes through a major nose or power change with the muffler delete it looks like the dynomax is staying
