My old throttle body - any takers?
Hello again,
If you followed my posts this past year, you'll know that my '05 VDP went into limp-mode several times. After a lot of searching here, I ultimately bought a new throttle body from Gaudin Jaguar (great place to do business.)
I wondered if anybody would be interested in my old throttle body? I can tell you that since replacing it, I've not had any more problems, so I would guess that the old unit is not in 100% perfect.
I thought about digging into it to see if I could refurbish it, but I have a thousand other projects to keep me busy.
So I'm offering it to anyone. If it's worth something, please be fair. If I can get $50 out of it, I'd take it. If it's not worth that, let me know. I hate to just scrap it, because it DEFINITELY is in "okay" working order; it just occasionally went into limp mode.
Secondly, anyone who's thinking about doing this job themselves: it <seems> to have solved my problem, and it was very, very easy to do.
Thanks.
**on second thought - I've received some valuable information from this forum, so I'd also be willing to donate it to the forum moderators or something like that.

Sure would be nice if someone knowledgeable about the throttle body position sensor that is attached to the side of the throttle body could experiment with this donor and find a solution/replacement that could work. I know I contacted a manufacturer a couple months ago that makes throttle body position sensors via email to see if they could offer a solution, mentioning that the demand is definitely there, but I only got a reply that they sell great products but never got a direct response to my question. I know many forum members have been hoping for a solution given that Jaguar only sells the whole throttle body and not just the sensor.
The throttle bodies are available rebuilt from several aftermarket suppliers, so somebody found a TPS source.
One member pointed out that this company offers remanufactured throttle bodies so they appear to know what they are doing.

We know that the sensor needs to be properly aligned with the butterfly set at 15 deg open at idle, but many cars have sensors that can be removed and replaced as you slightly pivit the sensor into place to achieve the butterfly opening before locking down the screws. We know that many of the later year cars in the year range of 2004 to 2009 cars have sensors that have rivets that attach the sensor but I imaging they can maybe be drilled out to replace the sensor with a new one some how. I am sure there is very cost effective way.

Yes the replacement TPS problem has not been solved but you can buy a new TB inc.
sensor in the Uk for about 140GBP~~$200 so as long as you are not paying dealers $1000
it's not a huge deal?
