Default Name This Part

New here (to this corner of the forum) with a 2004 XJR, and have a question.

I am missing what the owner's manual refers to as a "plastic panel" to cover the tow hook attachment point in the lower air intake. Any idea what this part number is so I can try to find one online?

Number 1 in the picture shows the empty space where a plastic panel matching the one labeled 2 should be.

(I can't read my JTIS on my 64-bit computer - I'll have to find an old XP machine and keep it)

Second Question that came to mind is this: If you install the lower mesh grill, what happens with the tow hook? I guess you can't use it anymore?

Hi MeatBag,

According to the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC), which you can download from the X308 forum and run on your 64-bit computer, the part is on the diagram for the front bumper and is simply called a "Cover."

For X350s with up to VIN G43080:

The Right Hand part number is C2C4656

(The Left Hand part is C2C4657)

If your VIN is higher, let me know and I'll look up the part number for you.

Regarding the lower mesh grille interfering with the use of the tow hook, why should it matter? When have you ever heard of a Jaguar needing to be towed????

Cheers,

Don

Tow hook unscrews and goes in the trunk, among the spare tire bits.

Replacement part should be about $40 online. Color match might not be right for you, nut nothing a can of spray paint won't fix.

I had to buy one last hear when a piece of road debris was flipped up by the car in front and knocked mine off.
