Question:
I have a 2006 xj8l -the nav system does not allow you to operate it while driving - although I understand Jaguar's reasoning for this(safety). I personally would never try and use the nav system
while driving - is there anyway to bypass this "lock-out"?? Again ,although safety is Jaguar's goal here, what doesn't make sense about it is this: often one might be are driving in an unfamiliar areaand might need to figure out how to get somewhere or need to find a alternative route or need a hotel listing or whatever........... -this system does not allow the passenger to use the nav system while the car is moving - I also have a mercedes w/nav and it does allow use of the nav while driving -I can't tell you how many times my wife has used the nav system as a passenger - any thoughts ideas??

 

Upgrade to the latest software version by purchasing a 2007 or later map and software DVD. The ability to use the navigation features whilst in motion was enabled from that version onwards.

 

Which software level do you have now? Is your start up screen a green background with a 3D leaper or is it a black background with a white outline leaper?

 

I have the 2009 DVD which did a software update upon upon initial load and changed the logo screen as you described. I noticed some minor changes to the nav system but what specifically has changed with use while driving as I do not see anything different there.

 

I need to double-check, but I believe it's black w/white - ????
