Default Navigation System Update

XJ8L 2005
I have 2008-2009 DVD. System not very user friendly.
Asked one Jag dealer if newer DVD would also improve program. He said they updated program when installing DVD and was improved. ($200)

Asked same question of another Jag dealer. He said newer DVD just had newer and more data, but didn't affect program. Needed newer Jag.

I can't remember when they made the minor UI changes.....does your logo screen have the white outline jag on black background or the detailed silvery jag on greenish background?

Having recently updated from the original nav disk that came with my 2004 when new to the latest (2012?) disk, I can say that to the extent there are any user interface differences, they are not overly apparent. There definitely was a huge improvement in the map data for the areas in which I travel, which more than made the upgrade cost worthwhile for me.

Default Navigation System Upgrade

Logo screen is white outline Jag on black. What is "UI"? Significance? Thank you.

Default Maps

I've just ordered a new disc from WhereIs for my 2003 car. Discovered that mine was still version 2 - and we're up to version 19 here now, so no wonder when I was down south last weekend it couldn't find half the roads! Cost is $295 (Australian). I'll report back when I've got it installed and can tell you if the user interface is improved at all.

To be honest, I don't find the Jag system that bad to use. You should have tried the one I had in a Peugeot a few years ago ... that was so bad I gave up and bought a TomTom

Default New SatNav Disc installed

Further to my last post, I received the new disc last Friday. Installed, it works fine - I had to reset all the customised settings, units, home location etc. but that wasn't too hard as I didn't have many stored destinations - but I can report no discernible difference to the "UI" which remains just as before. But at least it knows where it's going a bit better now!

the map DVD upgrades do NOT update the system.......it only updates the map information (roads, streets, POI's, etc).
