in 2010 we bought a 2007 xj8 certified pre owned with only 29k miles, while purchasing this vehicle we looked at the carfax and saw there was 1 owner and no accidents, today I went and looked at an audi a4, they wanted to give me an estimate to figure out what equity i could roll into the new audi. when the finance manager returned he told us that the value was far below what we were expecting, he said that the car was involved in an accident and showed us the carfax report saying the car was in an accident in 2009 with the previous owner, but was not reported until 2012, what i am wondering is how it slipped past the "rigorous" cpo evaluation and what i can do about it

 

They had similar thing to carfax in the UK and when I read the small print it said that they

could not be responsible for the accuracy of the information- so it was not worth the paper

it was written on!

Sorry I have no further info but in your case it seems that you were unlucky that the accident damage had occurred was not reported when you bought the car.
