Default Need help wiring bluetooth in my xjr

I have a 2005 XJR and have the 3 parts I need to install the jaguar OEM Bluetooth system (PSE module that goes in the trunk, the Bluetooth antenna that goes in the center console and the microphone).

I was able to locate the plug for the Bluetooth antenna in the center console without any problems (I removed the HVAC vents at the rear of the center console and located the plug for the antenna). I have not installed the microphone yet since I am waiting to make sure I can get the Bluetooth pse module to be recognized on my touch screen). But one question I have is what do I screw into for the mounting plate for the microphone? I have the microphone and mounting plate, but I do not know what the two small screws screw into to be mounted on the ceiling.

But the big question I have is how do I hookup the pse module in the trunk? I do not have the jaguar voice system if that matters. I was able to locate the large data plug (I am assuming it is a data plug) that was taped to the wiring directly behind the CD player and DVD Navigation unit in the trunk for the pse. It was the large plug with about 20 pins. However, I cannot locate a wire for the smaller two pin plug on the pse which I am assuming is the power source. Is the plug I need hiding behind the cd player/DVD navigation unit or somewhere else in the trunk? Do I need a new cable, and if so, where can I buy it? Do I need the jaguar voice system (I would like to add this feature, so if anyone can tell me where to buy a used unit I would appreciate the information). Any input to help finish the installation would be appreciated.

I think my microphone came with the mounting plate - just a plastic tab that you put on the inside oof the headliner and screw into. The two pin plug is probably the fiber D2B ring. Read through this thread on my installation and youshould find the answer - with pictures!

The 2-plug connection you're referring to is most likely the fiber optic in/out junction. look in gmcgann's link for what you're seeking...a spare (open) fiber optic terminal. Mine didn't have one, so I had to buy a new harness. However, it is VERY easy to add another loop, as those connectors come apart very easily. If you want to go that route, let me know via PM, I have fiber optic cable/ends for a couple people who need a loop added to their system.

Here is this installation guide too. It shows the microphone base plate installation as well.

Oh, and I've attached the user's manual for the BT system as well.

I have located the bt inline cable in my trunk. Looks like I need a cable to plug into the bt inline cable (there is currently a termination plug plugged into the cable) and the back of my Bluetooth device in the trunk. Does anyone know the name and part number for this cable and how much it should cost? Once I get the cable I assume I plug the cable into the bt inline cable and the Bluetooth device

Thanks

Um, not sure what you're referring to. Photo of your plug?

From what I learned when doing mine, if the car had the rear-seat entertainment (ICE) the D2B connector labeled ICE would be plugged into the one labeled BT INLINE. The BT INLINE will not work for you phone module, but the ICE will.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but does this mean I can run a fiber optic cable connector from the phone module to the ICE connector directly (bypassing the radio connections) and have the bluetooth work correctly? I have read all the writeups but am still not 100% on how to do it.

You do not have to "bypass" anything.

You should have a pair of fiber optic cables with a loop attached labeled ICE rear lhs side of trunk behind the trim.. If you do not have In Car Entertainment installed that D2B connector is free.

You should also have a plug connector back behind the stack that is also free. Probably two such connectors one for the Bluetooth module and one for VACM.

These plugs will only fit their respective modules,

It is plug and play but you do have to have the correct Bluetooth module as well as a microphone in the overhead console.

You will also require an antenna that plugs in to the Bluetooth module. I bought one for a BMW which fits nicely.

THanks Jackra!

At the risk of sounding obtuse- I DO have an ICE connector terminated with a loop and no In Car Entertainment. I found the correct (regularish) connector for the Bluetooth module and it is plugged in.

This is where I get a little confused (bear with me)

What exactly do I use to plug the BT module into the Optical loop? Can I just grab the cd player plug and plut IT into the BT module? Do I need to get a y connector and make some sort of patch connector?

I'll happily do a writeup once I have this working.

It is not the BT inline cable you want it is the one with ICE labeled on it.

The BT in line just ends under the rear seat and does not connect to anything in your car.

The D2B links are in a closed loop which is why the ICE connector is there to close the loop.

If you do not want the CD player you could do that however by adding in a small section of D2B cable uou can add the Bluetooth module into the loop in place of the small loop plugged in to the ICE connection.

If you have the "in line" D2B cable that ends under the rear seats and is intended for the rear seat entertainment "keypad" that you find in some setups in the armrest of the rear seats.

You could take that whole link out and use it. You would have to coil it up as it is longer than you really want.

You need a Bluetooth module placed in the stack that's the only module you need. It's behind the stack where the main electrical connector is located. Usually taped to the harness out of the way.

There are two types one that accepts only one registered number, 2W93-19K350-AD, and another that will accept several as seen in the pic above.

I have just purchased a D2B cable that includes extra links for a project I am working on. I will have my "old" set of links available. pm me if interested.

Ok, in the home stretch I think-
1. removed Fiber connector from 6 cd changer and plugged into phone module
2. Plugged other regular type connector into phone module
3. changed from us English to British English in system settings on radio (this FIXED the whole (phone in cradle blah blah screen)
4. pressed ##3#*# like a million times to try and pair with phone- NO DICE. Also tried ##1#*#- still no dice. on another note, I do not see anything named "Jaguar" in my phone's Bluetooth. Just MAC addresses.

Ideas?

THANK YOU!!

I read that post like three times and completely missed this: "The doogle is a BTUM which is what the silver module requires." I ordered a BTUM from ebay and will report back after I receive it.
