Default New lug nuts on a 2005 XJ8

Only me Our 2005 Jaguar XJ8L had a seized lug nut that had to be cut off, so I put a new set of 20 on. Much higher quality lug nuts.

This is how they looked before.

The old and new lugs side by side.

This is what happened to a lug on the last wheel because of the car's tire iron. I switched to a socket immediately because I needed it off. The socket fit snug and took it off.

Hi philjoemill,

I have moved your thread from the forum for the X308 to the forum for the X350, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 2005 XJ8.

For the benefit of others, could you please tell us where you purchased your new lug nuts, the brand and part number, and how well they fit?

Cheers,

Don

Default Ebay $21.72 They are solid, chrome and look fantastic.

20PC JAGUAR OEM FACTORY CHROME 12X1.5 LUG NUTS FOR JAGUAR S/X/F TYPE XE XF XJ XK
By the way, I want to give props to my mechanic. ARAS auto and classics is his business and he does all the work. Jeff said he has a lower powered air wrench for this reason. He did not want to have to bill me for all the work, so he cut the lug off for me, causing little to no wheel damage. I think I can fix the small marks which you don't easily see. It turns out that I am glad he very carefully cut the lug off because I found out that one lug costs almost as much as 20. It looks much better.

That's one of the first things I did after purchasing my SV8. Land rover capped lugs do the same thing. Did not want to find a swollen lug while changing a tire on the side of the road. The chrome only lasts a couple of years until it rusts a little on the outside, but $20 every couple of years is nothing.

I never much liked the stock lugs. Since I have not had to remove them in the 11,000 miles we have put on the XJ8 since 2009, I never thought of replacement. Now I have a six point impact socket and a 1/2" drive breaker bar. The socket fits over the lugs tight and clean. I short grip the bar to not over tighten. You are correct if they start to rust in a couple of years, they are inexpensive enough to just purchase another set.
