My 127K '06 Super V8 has this worrisome habit of occasional stalling. It happens infrequently but always under pretty similar conditions. The car has warmed up to operating temperature and has been driven at least a few miles or more. When I come to a stop at a stop sign or red light, etc, as the RPMs wind down, the engine will die. It always starts right back up and usually won't do it again for a while.
If this was a vintage car with a carburetor, I would guess the idle speed was set just a little too low. Obviously, that is not the case. During this time, I have not gotten any codes relating to this. I have gotten the common oxygen sensor codes but I don't think they are related. There are no cylinder misfire codes either.
My guesses would be a bad coil pack or more likely, a fuel injector issue. I always run name brand 91 octane and have tried several different fuel injector cleaners but can't really say any have made a difference. It still happens at random intervals.
Any tips or similar experiences?
Do you have access to a scanner? That could really help identify the issue. It could be a number of things. But I had this happening once on my Xjr and it turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor located right behind the bank 2 intercooler. It was a cheap and easy fix. Hopefully yours is too.
