Default P132E & restricted Performance

Ok, so I was leaving the house this afternoon and almost immediately got an Amber warning light and Restricted Performance message.

Initially I wasn't overly concerned as I've had similar a year or so ago, once, possibly even twice and a quick ignition cycle cleared itself and all good.

Travelled a few hundred yards down the street, lumpy as hell, try a few ignition cycles and this bugger is not clearing, hmmm....not good!

A quick call to my breakdown service and they're on their way, arriving in around 25 mins or so, they get a code reader on her and she promptly spits out P132E code Turbocharger boost pressure, Control B malfunction, see below.....

Not a happy chappy to say the least, but it is what it is
Car transported to Prestige Jaguar to see what the issue is, may be a new turbo......lovely!!

Here's hoping for something a little less expensive, but won't hold my breath
Onwards n upwards

The actuator rods on the turbos stick and need lubricating... apparently...

Same engine in the Land Rovers / Range Rovers, same problems.

Also been discussed on here once too! https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...esolved-70580/

The news is in, replacement turbo required left hand bank unfortunately.

I have a replacement refurbished unit on its way with a years guarantee, parts, around 6 hours or so of labour etc etc, so around £1k
It's not so much the money ( well it is really, lol ) it's more about the whole car broken down, transported to dealer and car-less for around a week scenario. As someone who usually does preventative maintenance and tried to look after their vehicle this is a whole new experience for me

I could've went down the 2nd hand route and had one bought, installed etc for around £400 but opted for the safer route

Anyhow, turbo on its way and should be ok good to go for late Thursday, Friday latest

Well, only got the car back today

Fully refurbished exchange turbo supplied n fitted and the car all back to normal as far as I can tell. Here's hoping for a little decent weather and I can get out, get her cleaned and checked over for my own satisfaction.

Seems to be running all A ok and glad to have her back
Costs £1120 for refurbished turbo, supply, fit, vat etc so a rather large unexpected bill, but that's motoring for you I guess

Glad you're back on the road Jim.

So in the meantime I did a bit more reading on these turbos, actually my previous suggestion about the actuator rods doesn't apply to the Jaguar version of the 2.7 diesel.

The Land Rover version of the 2.7 only uses a single turbo (whereas the Jag is a twin turbo) and the design of the turbos is very different between the two. There's no exposed actuator rod on the Jag turbos, they are basically a "sealed unit" with the actuator closed up.

Which is why it's a replace, not repair item.

Thanks Cameron, much appreciated
Thanks for the info, I found that out also.....

I could've went down the route of a 2nh hand unit supplied and fitted much cheaper but didn't want to skimp or take the cheaper, riskier option.

As she was away for around a week she was a little grubby for my liking, so spent a pleasant couple of hours bringing her back to standards today, then a nice little drive

Good to have her back
