Hi,
I have a LH drive.

The rear right door (passenger side) lock does not open. The latch does not move at all. The passengers in the rear seat have to use the left side door (driver side) all the time.

As the lock does not open, the door cannot be opened. What could be wrong ? Could it be permanent child lock ? (how to unlock it) ??
Or could it be some mechanics not functioning properly, or some broken parts (links) inside ?

If I have to open the door panel to check out the issue, how do I do that when the door does not open ?

If it doesn't work by using the external handle it sounds like a duff latch, because child locks only prevent opening from the inside.

I had one go on my car not long after I bought it in 2010, and it was replaced for not too much money at the local agent here in England. Agents and good Jaguar independents will know how to release the lock, but the method is kept under wraps so thieves don't get to learn too much. Someone on here may be able to PM you the details if you give your bona fides.

I don't know if the door trim panel can be removed with the door shut.

The latches on these cars are plastic and wear out
I have replaced all of them on my XJ8 cheap ford parts that are not cheap from Jaguar (Go figure)
Its a mother to open the door if it cant be opened got to take the trim of the inside of the door (thanks mister Jaguar for that one LOL)

This is purely from memory so apologies if I've got it wrong, but IIRC the rear door locks are purely electric (motor controlled) rather than lever/mechanical, and if one doesn't work you may have a connection/electrical or failed motor issue.

The locks are controlled by the Rear Electronic Module mounted in the trunk.

Also, I recall that there was something in the schematic about "double locking" which meant that you couldn't unlock the car using the interior handle if it was activated.

I Bought the latch online as the dealer wanted nearly a $1000au for it

I looked around got it for $298US aussie dollar was on parity at the time just had to change the plug to the wiring harness used the plug of the old actuator
I did the first one myself but that door still opened that was passenger side front

When the rear door actuator went I took it to my specialist had enough problem's doing the first myself he took the trim off while sitting in the back seat

The actuators have a ford stamp on them so they are a ford part from which car I don’t know ?

The actuators have plastic gears inside of them they just wear out

(cheap ford part but expensive when bought from Jaguar)

It comes because the car always locks itself

I had my indie go into the system and switch the auto locking of

It will still lock and unlock just one push opens the drivers door two pushes the rest of the car

It just doesn’t lock all the doors as soon as you get into the car my previous XJR6 did the same thing switched that of as well

I think the auto locking is mandatory in the US

Hope that helps

I had a similar problem with my LH rear door.
With my son outside the car, myself inside we operated both inside & outside handles & the unlock button on the key simultaneously, the door opened at the first attempt.
