Default Power window issue

Well, while it’s cold and snowy and while I wait to change my valley hose, maybe I can tinker with a few other problems.

power windows. All 4 (I presume) are supposed to have express up and down. (That’s where you can click the window button and release it and it will continue it’s up or down action).

front passenger and rear driver’s work fine, drivers (front) and rear passengers side have express down but no express up. They power up and down fine but simply have to hold the button to run them up.

I have absolutely no knowledge on jag power windows so no idea where to even start.

and please excuse me if this topic has been beat into the ground on other threads. I’m still learning how to navigate the forum. I’ll figure out searches soon.

To activate "one touch" raise window with button to the top
and keep your finger on the control until you hear a low volume click after 2/3 seconds
then release.

thanks. I know how to activate them. It’s simply the express up function is not operational on the windows noted. It does work on the pass front and drivers rear windows.

Well, that was the condition. I have since tested the express functions using the individual door switches. Doing that, the passenger rear window operated in express up and down

then magically express up and down both work from the drivers station for that window.

so now the only issue is no express up function on the drivers door.

Most probably it is a problemwith the button operating the windows, they are prone to wear.

Do you feel "two stages" when operating the button? The first stage is the manual operation, the second one is the automatic operation. I had the same problem with my car and could fix the problem. I had to remove the switch assembly in the drivers door, disassemble it and and put it back together after cleaning the contacts.

Best regards,

Thomas

thanks for the advice.

the oddest thing. I went out to check for that click of the 2nd stage and viola, all windows work as designed.

im thinking maybe it was due to the car sitting for 5-6 months coupled with the wear associated with age and whatever the detent is was “stuck”.

and magically the rear window shade that was seemingly stuck down now also works fine.

now if that coolant leak that is likely the dreaded valley hose would magically repair itself I would be thrilled.

thanks again for the response.

It's nice that the windows work again!

Unfortunately, the chances of the coolant leak fixing itself are on the very low side...

Good luck!

Best regards,

Thomas
