Problem #2 "No Phone"

Problem #2 "No Phone"
My recently purchased 2007 XJ8L says "No Phone" when I press the phone button on the radio console.
I don't have the GPS system, just the LCD display. Trying to pair my cell phone (Blackberry Bold), I get nothing, phone doesn't see the car. Went through the setup per the handbook. Never says "sig", phone sees nothing. This phone pairs with everything else I connect it to without fail.
Checked all the fuses.
Where to look for this problem. I am under warranty for 6 more months.
I assume this would be covered.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Don

Don, get your VIN and call the dealer. Not all the XJ8's have a factory installed bluetooth adapter [even though the button exists]. The dealer should be able to tell you whether your VIN has a factory installed bluetooth adapter.
In the event that you don't have one [like me], I've seen them for sale on ebay and other places... don't recall the cost offhand.

Well, 2007MY is supposed to have bluetooth as standard item. I have the microphone in the headliner.
Thanks,

Ok, Don,
Since we now know the car is equipped with a phone, we have to start from ground zero. I know what you said in your original post, but we need to clarify some things.
1. When pressing the "Phone" button on the radio, the display should show "Sig".
2. If it does not, the phone module is not being recognized by the audio system, either because it has failed, or it is electronically "locked up". I'm not sure why that happens, I just know it does. To restore it if it is locked, it [the phone PSE module] either needs to be unplugged itself, or the battery needs to be disconnected for a long while, preferrably overnight. A quick battery disconnection and reconnect will not do it, it must be left set. Disconnecting the PSE module means stripping the trunk trim out for access, probably not the easiest thing for you, I'd do the battery. Now try and see if the phone button brings up the "Sig" on the display. If it doesn't, get 'er to the dealer for a warranty repair before it expires.
3. If the "Sig" shows on the display, then try entering the ##3#*# and press the handset button [the one next to the phone button]. That makes the car discoverable temporarily. Use the Blackberry and have it search for devices, select Jaguar and use Pin 1313 to connect.
See how that goes.
Good luck!

"no phone" means the radio doesnt see the PSE. when you install a PSE the system should work, but you might have a config message in the cluster. the scan tool would need to be used to add the phone option. if the system did work, and now doesnt. id suspect the PSE if there are no wiring issues.

Okay, I disconnected the phone module in the trunk. Still "no phone". I then disconnected the battery overnight, and and again "no phone"
I think we are done with this. Eventually, I'll take it to the dealer to figure out.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help.

Phone manual
Thanks for the manual. I'll try again tomorrow with the discover function. But it seems that the manual indicates it should always initialize the phone for a few seconds when the key is turned on. I've never seen any indication of this initialization.
I still suspect something is missing or disconnected. Where is the Bluetooth module located? Easy to get to?
Regards,
Don

Don,
I also had a problem when I switched phones and tried to connect my new phone - followed the instructions in the manual but it didn't work (I have nav screen though). But after I keyed in ##3#*# and pressed the phone button, I was able to do pair them.. The pairing code is 1313, I believe.
