Default PSE (Phone module) install - RESOLVED

So I finally got a PSE module as well as a bluetooth module off eBay. I am putting them in a 05 Super V8 so I already have the voice control/mic. I pulled the trunk apart to put in the phone module however I found only one connector from the wiring harness to the PSE. There are two inputs on the PSE module. One of the inputs almost looks like an electrical supply you'd find on some home theater equipment. Upon turning on my car, it still says phone not fitted. I imagine the dealer would have to program something.

Two questions:

1) Am I missing a part of the wiring harness to the second input (it's the small one on the PSE) and if so, where do I find it?

2) How do you secure the PSE to the tower? No screws were supplied.

Jaguar Bluetooth is a challenge even when it's factory fitted.

Here's the section from the Parts Manual for your vehicle:

Fixing screws are item 4. Note the number of PSE part number changes through the VIN range. You need to be certain the parts you've sourced are compatible with your vehicle.

It sounds like you may be missing the Interface Module (item 2).

Jaguar BlueTooth is similar across the model ranges - this is the PSE Module on my XK8. The large blue connector will presumably be similar to the connector you've found in your trunk?

The BlueTooth installation in my XK8 has this harness from the blue PSE Module connector going to the Interface Module which then connects to the dash display unit.

Where can I find the page that tells me which revision I need for my VIN? I have a -AC PSE. Is there a specific PSE for my VIN? I think I am going to let the dealer do the rest for me if my PSE is right.

My PSE is part # 2W93-19k350-AC

That number will be the manufacturer's ref and not the Jaguar part number. Here's the range from the Parts Manual:

Anything to do with BlueTooth from Jaguar is extremely expensive (think $thousands). The major downside is you can only pair one phone at a time and the compatible phones are limited.

My last XK8 didn't have BlueTooth fitted but my current one does. If it didn't, I'd definitely go aftermarket and not retrofit.

From the website, the RAZR Maxx is NOT on the list of compatible phones. Well I guess this was all for naught.

Not completely wasted.

We've both learned something and the information in the thread is here for anyone else who is tempted to try the same retrofit.

It seems I have a old phone lying around that I could activate and have it dedicated as a car phone. Perhaps I will pursue that route.

Dealer installed both modules for me. I was missing a lead link so it came out to 400 or so. RAZR MAXX makes and receives calls. No phone book download but it works. Very happy.

That's not too high a cost to get BlueTooth working.

The advantage of having the system designed for the vehicle and therefore not looking like an aftermarket add-on must outweigh not having Phone Book download.

Thanks for concluding the thread with your solution. I've amended the thread title to 'RESOLVED'

abacab, did you by chance document your part number on the BTUM?

I did not, unfortunately. I know you can find it around here somewhere.
