R1 Slotted Rotors/EBC Red PAds and Front end Rebuild
My new hoist arrived this morning so It was time to get going on the suspension.
Here is a link http://cartar.com.au/
The coolest part is once on the hoist I can wheel the whole car around. No more moving tools from side to side, just spin the car around!!!
I had planned to put another 2 hoists in the new shed (2 post and 4 post) but this ting is so good i'm considering not getting the 2 post at all
The only reason for the 4 post now will be wheel alignments. The cartar does everything else so well
Anyway work done today
Rebuilt the front end replacing the upper wishbones, Lower ball joint, all the rubbers, sway bar link and bushings, Steering links , tie rods and Wheel hubs
I have new engine mounts and subframe bushes but decides not to do them now.
Also Replaced my rotors with R1 Slotted and Redstuff pads.
My disks were buggered but I knew that. Had been saving the new R1 Rotors till I could do all of this.
Turns out the only bad part in the front end the drivers wheel hub but glad I got it all done in one shot
The rear end is on the agenda for tomorrow, all the same stuff as the front end
Dont expect the rear to take as long but Ill also be doing the tailshaft rubbers and trans pan (filter), Lifegard 6 and new trans plug
Will also be flushing replacing the brake fluid and diff oil
Im hoping some engine bay parts are arrive tomorrow so I can get moving on the engine bay work.
Items are
S/C rebuild
S/C belt and idler
Water pump (thermostat done a few weeks ago)
All new Hoses
Knock sensors (just because the S/C is off)
Valley Hose (replacing with a hardline)
Full load breather and pipes
Plugs and coils
Ceramic coating of S/C body, Intercoolers, Inlet and Exhaust manifolds
Power steer flush and replace fluid
Coolant flush and replace
Once all that is done its off to the Dyno for a carbon clean and some dyno tests on new rear mufflers
Testing Stock, Dynomax VT, and Xforce VAREX
The dynomax has an internal valve to open it up under full load
The VAREX has a solenoid. If this one proves the best I will connect the solenoid to the WOT flap relay
Anyway enough work for today, more tomorrow
Cheers

I am less ambitious than you are. But suspension upgrades in in my near future.
What did you use for lower ball joints? I would prefer OEM, but Moog or Raybestos would be fine.
Have not located on my usual sites.

The lower ball joint is a lemforder part
Is listed under the XJR (not sure if they list it for other models)
I purchased the part from rockauto confirming the ZF part number when I ordered
It early morning here in OZ now, on my second coffee procrastinating on starting the backend!!!

Procrastinating over got started on the back end and realised i'm missing the lower wishbone bushes.
A quick check of the tracking and they are due today. As OzPost are so useless i'm beating that means tomorrow.
Change of plans, Removing the rear mufflers to fit flanges in the pipe.
Once the flanges are on Ill fit them and make the brackets for the xfoce and dynomax rear mufflers.
Ill then be able to change them quickly on the dyno. Not sure which ones will remain dyno tests and sound levels will determine that.
I wont tackle the center muffler removal as I want to test the rear boxes with the 100 cell cats and center muffler in place. After the first dyno runs we will remove the center muffler and put an x pipe in

Will do,
The plan is to replace both of the barb ends with new barbs the have AN fittings. I will then use a new valley hose as a template to bend up a tube. Finally fit AN nuts and flange the ends
PS I also considered the LR hardline but it still has a rubber joiner on it
I just want the problem gone once and for all

Sure wish I wouldn't have removed the jaguar service application off my laptop I remember installing it being a pita. I did the valley hose on my 03 STR and it wasn't too bad actually. If you have the service application it walks you through it. There is also a post in the STR section with pictures.

Thanks for that but doing the job is not an issue
Just doing a bunch of stuff at the same time
Some parts are being replaced as preventive measure like the breathers and hoses
Others because they are PITA to get to otherwise, like the valley hose and knock sensors
Other again for performance reasons like the ceramic coatings
If I want going to keep the car I would not bother just deal with things as they come up
BTW nothing is wrong with the valley hose at this point other than it a ticking time bomb!!!

This is good stuff!..Have you thought about recoating the rotors? I sent mine out awhile back but have yet to get them back. New bearings, seals and new coating. And thanks for the caliper mounting measurements
I haven't found anyone in OZ that does it. So at this stage its just bearings and seals.
Ill fit the pulley as the snout is off.
Pulley has been in the toolbox for at least 2 years!!!
No probs on the caliper mounts.
PS what are you doing with that?
Cheers
