Default Update please

BlackKat, first off thanks for posting images to have a better idea if this motors are rebuildable. I have same issue for my vehicle dealership parts sells whole assembly and its running me 840.00 crazy. Motor looks exactly the same four wires with that electric clutch.

Can you advise if the splicing and placing oem connector worked on the dorman? I really appreciate info.

Regards
JM

As of yet neither part is needed, but an all aluminum radiator is what i was looking into.

Coolant in the trans, needs to be avoided, and plastic heat cycles factor in as well.

The fact that the fan was also available, so cheap caught my eye.

If it fits and functions, another inexpensive fix, for us to keep them running.

That is very interesting, I have had this long running intermittent fan fault, and as my radiator has some damage to the upper inlet with brittle plastic, this would quite possibly kill 2 birds, I can get a radiator "fairly" cheap, but the fan is around £600 new or maybe half that for a used one, I refuse point blank to pay that kind of money for a used part that could end up being the same as my own, so I would prefer new or something as good as new and THIS seems to tick the boxes, wonder if they would ship to the UK, how much shipping would be, and how much customs would charge me, as I got stung when the wife bought some poxy wildlife bracelets from the US last week that cost about £50 inc delivery, and the Post Office wanted another £20 in customs charges before the would hand them over.

Sorry Joe,
I never got around to finishing this project. Turns out my fan is working fine and my ac compressor is just weak. I may play with it during the summer for fun but I think it should work.

Thats awesome! I removed the fan shroud on my 2002 STR and saw the silicon glued cover which catched my curiosity. Im always afraid of opening glued/sealed parts, but i want to replace some parts on the pcb, especially the capacitors (they usually wear out after years of usage). This post and your effort is really helpful, thanks alot mate!

I really appreciate your effort and excellent documentation of the fan motor disassembly. As I recall, the bearings are skateboard wheel bearings. Readily available.
Repairing instead of replacing the fan motor assemble separates the real mechanic from the parts changer. Congratulations on your esteemed skill.

My XJ8 AC problem was failing fan motor bearings which would bind intermittently. However, I'm not buying "a weak compressor". A compressor with leaky reed valves will not achieve high nor low pressures.

Good luck with your AC and thank you again for your excellent work.
