Hello everyone, I'm new to owning a Jaguar as well as posting in forums. Hopefully I can find some answers on here. Here is the problem; When my car is just turned on (ACC) the FM frequencies pick up fine and is clear as day. When my car is cranked all I hear is static and it doesn't pick up any stations. The CD players plays music, and my FM transmitter works fine when the car is on (ACC). That being said I know the speakers are fine and I know the antenna is fine. Honestly I can't even find the antenna on this car to even check it. What else could it be? Any answers or suggestions are much appreciated. I will respond back to anyone as quick as I can. Thank you.

Just a guess but the purpose, as I understand it, of the ignition capacitor is to prevent radio interference... perhaps that has gone bad?

So I did figure out that the rear defroster causes interference. When it is on the radio is static, when it is off radio is clear.

Hey, my radio also has interference when the rear defrost is on, I just did some searching and found a few things:

- check the side panel in the trunk where the antenna is located and inspect wiring.

- another post mentioned that there could previously have been a sirius/xm radio installed and switched the antenna output to that. My car did come with a sirius unit attached to the dash when I got it so I'm going to check now.

Also, it seems the FM transmitter causes issues on some of my FM stations. If i unplug it, the stations are clear of static. Try it.

Cory,
Good sleuthing!

- The AM/FM antenna signal amplifier is right next to rear window heating grid/connector, under LH "C" pillar cover
- Sounds like loose/bad connector there, or grounding point for rear defrost and/or signal amplifier
