Default Range Revelation

I recently got a job where my commute is about 90% highway and 10% in-town driving. Previously I was used to seeing about 370 or so miles until empty when I filled up the tank. Now I'm seeing about 550 to 580 miles range to empty. This is based on about 27 to 28 mpg overall. I'm pretty pleased with that since my highway mpg is about 30 to 32 mpg. The only downside is when I get stuck in the usual DC area traffic and mileage goes south in a hurry. Still overall I think the Jag is an excellent commuter car. Really comfortable, lots of power when you need it, and good gas mileage.

Carelm, yes that's really pretty decent mileage for sure, nice one, although the price of fuel is really low for you too.....
Over here we probably appreciate it more as the price of fuel, which has came down a lot recently is still very high.

I get around 28-30 mpg on average with stop / start around town driving, iirc the best I ever saw was around 43mpg and managed 716 miles on one tank. Even though it's a diesel it's still pretty good for such a big car.

That would be a blind flash of the obvious It would also apply to a number of so-called economy cars. No thanks, but I will stack with my Jag as it gives me a much better pleasure than the so-called econoboxes and it's cheaper to boot. Car is paid for and it's cheaper than a Hyundai circa 2008.

I recently moved from Ft Lauderdale to Atlanta and took pleasure in driving my car up. I set my cruise control at 80mph and saw 28.0 mpg during the drive. I made it from Ft Lauderdale to Ashburn, GA before my bladder forced me to stop. That was a distance of 477 miles and I put 17 gallons in the tank. So theoretically, I could have driven at 80mph and made it all the way to Atlanta.
