The door locks from a Mondeo are very simliar except they do not have the

shut/open sensor for the alarm system also the Mondeo actuator connector

is 3 pin and the XJ is 4 pin, although th XJ only needs 3 pins and the 4th. is

not used.

Im am sure that you could frig a Mondeo lock to work on an XJ.

Easiest repair is to buy an used Jag lock from E bay Uk however if you are

really clever (and tight) (like wot I am!!*) you can cut the microswitch out of

an used Mondeo lock and solder it into your Jag lock.

BTW Do not use double locking.

Can you expand on this? I've never seen anyone caution against double locking before.

Thanks I did read your post on repairing the cog that dies in the lock and while searching Ebay I found these items Ford Door Lock Actuator Repair KIT Fits Territory Falcon Series 3 AU BA BF NEW | eBay
Seems they are a problem there are a lot of guys selling just the cogs as well
I ordered a new latch but as soon as I have the old one spare I am going to see if it can be repaired with this or another type of kit as there are a few different ones for sale on eBay Australia
I have the old front door latch actuator as well might be able to repair them and have them as spares or at least learn how to repair them

If the lock fails while the door is dead locked then it's a hell of a job to get the door open.

Have a look in the S-Type section for the thread "S-Type door lock actuator repair FAQ" it was posted by joycesjag & I posted in there as well. You can see what I had to do to get the door open.
