Default rear parking sensors

I have just purchased a 2003 xj6 3.0 and find that the rear parking sensors don't appear to be working, the front sensors are working ok when i drive into my carport and sometimes i get a beep when selecting reverse gear then nothing else happens when i am getting near to anything...

grateful for any ideas
many thanks John...

Hi John,
First of all makes sure they are perfectly clean then select reverse and see if you can hear a clicking sound from each one.

If not, possible harness or module problem.

Any that don't click will possibly be defective.

Hope this helps,

Have a look also at the parking aid module LHS spare wheel well to ensure it has

not got wet at any time.

Rear park sensors also have a sounder located under the trim on the rear parcel

shelf. This sounder sometimes fails but sensors are the most likely problem.

My sensors stopped working a couple years ago and I didn't bother to find a fix. I have never seen a succesful diagnosis and repair on these mentioned on this forum. Probably not worth the effort like it was for me. My XKR has them working and I never trust them anyway, I always look when backing up.
