Default Reconnecting a battery after a period of disconnection

I have an XJR 1996 and in an attempt to stop it going flat have disconnected the negative terminal of the battery, as I’ll be away for a few months.

Is there anything specific I need to do on my return, when reconnecting it?

Thanks in advance.

If the vehicle is being stored near an electrical outlet, it would be better to use a battery maintainer that disconnecting a terminal.

Once the battery is disconnected, all the emissions monitors and other learned settings are going to need to be reset whilst driving through a specific cycle under certain conditions.

It’s not anywhere near a supply. As long as the car will relearn those settings itself through use then I’m fine with that. Thanks.

If you care about battery life, the battery should be fully charged before you disconnect it and should be charged every 3 months as a minimum. It should be stored in cool conditions. The longer you leave the battery without recharging the shorter will be its remaining life.
If it was my battery I would remove from the car and store in my garage/basement on a battery charge maintainer

I'd suggest Solar chargers, decent ones DO work well enough....

But I'd guess you are garaging it under cover!!

For the even electrically-foolisher 2011 L320, If I couldn't make use of 'any of the above' I would add a fair-sized "deep-discharge" Marine/RV battery in parallel.

Probably get more exposure if you posted in the appropriate forum section.(this is the 'big aluminum car' section)
