Question Remote Lock Door Actuator Issue

I have a North American 2004 Jaguar VDP. I am having issue with Remote Door Lock Feature (Via FOB) on driver side door only. I have been going through all the posts on this and I am still a little confused as to how to troubleshoot this.

Here is the situation:
  1. When I try to unlock via key FOB all the doors lock and unlock except the driver's door. Same situation with locking operation as well
  2. I can use the key on the driver to successfully lock and unlock all the doors.
  3. When I lock via key Fob it does not lock the drivers door. I can open the door and I don't usually get an alarm.
  4. I have set this up for single stage locking. ( Unlock all doors ).
  5. I have no error codes
  6. When I unlock via the FOB the car the puddle light comes on. (Door is still locked)
  7. When I lock via the FOB the car the puddle light comes on. ( I can still open the door after unlocking via key)

As far as alarm the car seems to be very intermittent. I would say 90% of the time I don't get an alarm even though all the doors are locked, with exception of drivers, and the red arming light is flashing. When I open the door with red flashing led I usually don't get an alarm. I have also tried arming with the double push on FOB and the mirrors retract. It too seems to be 90% of the time I can open door without engaging alarm.

I read in one thread that if you can lock/unlock via physical key it is not a door a door latching problem. Can someone confirm this? In the end I trying to determine if a new/ used door latch actuator will fix this issue.

I have access to a local junk yard where I can pull the part. I have not seen the damaged vehicle. If the front driver door is gone I am wondering if the left passenger door latch would work?

Many thanks.

Don't use double locking!

if the lock fails in that position you have a 'BIG Problem'
The drivers' door lock is different to all the others-see Electrical Guide.
Door locks fail because of failed micro switch in my experience.
When you use a key in the driver's door it does not utilise the microswitch.
There is a good chance that replacing the driver's door lock will resolve this.
Let me know result if you do that.

Thank you Meirion1. I was hoping it was you who would reply. Yes I took your advice on turning double locking off. I plan to replace door latch actuator and I will let you know if this solves my problem.
