Default replacement wiper blades

I have a 2006 XJ6. I recently bought new wiper arms and blades but found that I couldn't fit them. You need to bend the arm out from the mount
to remove the old fittings and replace them. Unfortunately the bonnet (Hood) blocks you from doing this. Has anyone else come across this and did you
find a work around. Hoping there is an easier way than removing the bonnet. Thank you

I always just replaced the 'inserts' when I worked at the dealer.

I just bought "brandless" wiper inserts from Repco. (seems to be NZ!)
Being a hoarder, I still have the packet.
Trico TTR610 "6mm wide 610mm long Metal Twin Rail Snap To Length".
Trico Wiper Refill 6mm Wide 610mm (24 Inch) 2pk - Trico | Repco New Zealand

If the whole arm needs replacing, apparently you might need a "wheel puller" or "bearing puller" of some sort.

Thanks for your comments. I have fitted new inserts and they are fine. Just the arms I bought from a company in Australia are supposedly a new
design and material that supposedly wipe better, clean the screen and last much longer. Would have been nice to use them.

My wiper arms wipe fine. Except they clunk a bit at end-of-throw and are not hitting anything. 89k is not much usage as things go.

P.S. did you eventually sort out a towbar? I would have gone to Aro Brothers even though not Jaguar Specialists they are a premium towbar supplier in Auckland. Did my Honda Elysion even though it looked a bit tricky to me.

I take the entire arm off. Remove a nut and way easier to work with

My wipers work well, just that I am a sucker for new tech and these wipers were supposed to be the "bees knees"
Re the tow bar, I gave up in the end.

I'll have a look at your suggestion. When I looked online I found that the wiper arm thing was a design fault for this model. Previous models the
hood was front hinged so the wipers were easy to access but this model the hood is rear hinged and blocks the wiper system from being accessed.

I agree it is a bit of a PITA to replace the wipers, but I managed to replace a few sets when I was into X350s from 2010 to 2019. There is a bit of a knack in it, but it is possible once you get the hang of it.

Default 2008 XJ8 - Blade Refill Replacement Parts

Replaced the blades on the X358 today. Very simple, all you need is a towel wedged between the wiper arms and the edge of the bonnet (to prevent scratching), needle nose pliers to squeeze the locking ends and release old blades.

Part numbers were
Passenger: 19” Trico/Napa 60-1900
Driver: 24” Trico 45-245

All under $20 and took me less than 10 minutes!

I was thinking of trying these squirters that attach to the arms and then just using normal $12 beam blades. Those Aerotwins (squirter in the blade) are $50 a pair. Im my case I cant get the inserts because the previous owner bought what looks like Bosch Hybrid (plastic) of some sort and shaved enough of the plastic away to accomodate a aftermarket squirter by Trico. I really dont want to shave every year or pay $50 a year either.

Order the stock ones from the dealer.
They aren't that expensive, then the cheap refills will fit.

Hi Killroy,
Those look great with the twin blades, do they have the fittings for the washer hoses?

pete m they aren't twin blades ( 2 per wiper arm ) that just the name . they have the washer jets on them and work great . i ordered my last set on amazon and they shipped from the uk . royal mail was a little slow last year due to the kung flu but i think this year should be quicker . well worth the money in my opinion . you might find cheaper wiper blades but you might get cheaper vision at 100 plus mph . I like my windshield clear .

2007 XJ8L

So I tried my little ebay washer nozzle this afternoon. They are ok at best. When the drivers wiper reaches the A-Pillar the nozzle tends to squirt off onto the next car so im probably going to scratch that idea. Passenger side worked well except for there are only 3 spray jets instead of four on the original, and they suck.

The original wiper blade assembly that has the washer nozzle imbedded in with it was I believe made by Trico. The previous owner removed that traditional style (metal) and put in hybrid style but keeping the original sprayer nozzle he shaved the plastic. I followed suit by shaving down the plastic to accommodate the squirter in the beam style that I bought. I bought a traditional (metal) blade that says use the existing wet arm clip but it will absolutely not work its to tight. So…..

I found at Parts Geek

Genuine Washer nozzle only Part Number: W0133-1657052 $26.50

Genuine that has the washer nozzle….
Left Part Number: W0133-2058601 $38.81ea, with refill Part Number: W0133-1655868 $16.15.
Right Part Number: W0133-2076866 $39.34ea, with refill Part Number: W0133-1655869 $16.18.

I also found at Parts Geek
Eurospare that has the washer nozzle….
Left Part Number: 24016-05835040 $13.43.
Right Part Number: 24016-05834794 $ $7.54.
couldent find refills for the Eurospares

Ebay was $28.50 from foreigndomesticautoparts
Ebay was $18.95 from foreigndomesticautoparts
for the Eurospares respectively

So its either the Eurospares or the Bosch Aerotwin

After careful consideration, and discovering the OTD price from Parts Geek, I think ill go with the Bosch Aerotwin.

Hey killroy, whats the spray pattern on the Aerotwin. Is it a 3-4 hole stream or more of a spray mist?

Thanks

Jon
