Default Reverse Parking Aid System - Disable Button Location

Hi Guys,

My 04 XJ8 - G31389 has the reverse parking sensors. Now one would think the disable button would be located in the upper console.

To my surprise - there is no such button. My question is: would this disable button be located elsewhere? To note - every X350 I have come across w/ the parking aid system has the disable button located in the overhead console.

The system is currently working despite the lack of a disable button but the system was acting up a few weeks back and I wanted to disable it for the interim. (WDS code for "short to ground")

I suspect the previous owner replaced the upper console w/ a replacement that didn't have the reverse parking aid reverse button.

(Looks like I'm going to find a used upper console and get this sorted)

Any feedback would be appreciated - thanks!

I may be wrong, but I thought the disable button on the overhead was only installed when front AND rear sensors were installed. Not for when just rear.

Yes that's correct, if you only have rear sensors then you can't turn them off, well you couldn't in my old X-Type, which was only rears...

To disable rear sensors you can pull a fuse located in boot fuse box.

Fuse no is listed in the driver's handbook.

Thanks guys for the responses.

This was driving me batty as my 00 S Type (w/ rear sensors only) has a disable button in the upper console.

It's working for now (hopefully it continues to) so I won't have to pull the fuse.

The existence of a disable button somewhere in the interior was sparking my interest.. as you can see I'm still learning about my newest acquisition...
