Sepangs with 285/35/20
Well Wasn't so sure they were going to fit but after a week of driving so far no rubbing whatsoever. Basically after bending a rim I wanted to go with a tire that would give me a bit more protection. That meant a bit taller or a bit wider.....What I found was a set of tires off of a Nissan GTR. 285/35/20 and 255/40/20 for the front. Originally I was looking at 265/35/20's...But what the heck.
Now if I can get away with lowering the car a tad that be great as well..Anyways haven't loaded the car up with a load of people but cornering, dips and such have not caused a rub whatsoever. Here are some photos...
Once I get some people in the car I will report back. Ill tell you one thing however. It rides so much better. Seriously

The height sensors measure the angle between the suspension arm and the chassis. A higher/lower tire wouldn't affect the angle.
I was considering switching to 19s, I can't stand straightening the rims once a month, plus my fiancee bent 2 rims and ripped a tire in a curb while avoiding an accident... it's getting expensive! if 255/40 and 285/35 work, it would be splendid! So they don't rub at all? I am lowered - 20/15mm...
Do they rub on heavy cornering? Could you please post a photo of a nearly parallel angle, it seems they balloon out a bit (strange, my 30 serier tire doesn't)

I have 255/40R20 on my Calistos, both front and rear.
No issue in ride and cornering and rims much better protected.
Didn't even try lowering the car (which stands now 1.25 cm higher), can go offroads haha!

I havent had a rub yet. Currently in Vegas for the week but when I get back to NYC Ill beet the crud out of it a bit. So far though I did about 50 or so city/highway miles and some hard cornering, braking and wavy roads....Nothing. It hits the bumps no much better as well. The tires are made to protect the rim lip and do appear to buldge a bit more than stock which is expected. However the tire contact patch on the road seems pretty good. It looks good and when run through water it seems ok...Anyway I don't car so long as I don't bend the rims so easily next time
btw fronts are 255/40/20. After some very aggressive driving I can say absolutely no tire rub with three 250lb dudes. Handles a ton better and drives a ton better. Hits bumps like a dream....definitely my new tires size for there rims from now on

I also have 255/40R20 and am very happy of it.
Every speedo has a tendency to give optimistic speeds.
Now with 3.6% more perimeter on the band, the speedo actually is now ...correct (verified with the GPS).

Thanks for the info with this. I just picked up a set of Sepangs, and I plan on getting some 265/35/20s for them, just to be a bit meatier.
XxSlowpokexX, are you planning on adjusting suspension height to lower it back down a little?
And a question for anyone — as far as manually adjusting suspension, how does the car accommodate these manual adjustments during different driving scenarios?

I was thinking of getting that lowering module and see if it still doesn't rub. Honestly it doesn't seem it will..And drives fine now..The 265's is what I was originally going to go for. But these just seem to fit so well!!!!
Added bonus is traction!
That's wonderful news! I love the Sepangs, but I HATE having to straighten them every few hundred kms.
You said improved traction, does it hook when punching it in 1st? I am seriously thinking 285/35r20 r888s or other semi-racing compound. With the twin screw, it would really help, I understand you're getting one too!
Does anybody with drag racing experience know how these tires compare to drag radials? We NEED a good 60ft!

Now if I had one of those twin screws Id likely need a differential to go along with the tires....Oh wait......I DO! This car is going to be LOADS OF FUN NEXT SPRING!!!!!
You can't imagine how much I relate to your joy
Since I am getting a Super V8 and twin screw is somewhere in the future. Do you think there's room for 295x35 on the sepangs in the back without mods (or in the worst case just a spacer)? That would make a bit more sidewall for protection, less diameter difference between front and rear and more traction.

As for the twin screw yes its from Avos. Very well made kit. I was very impressed. Cost will depend on the exchange rate but it wont be any more then lets say a gt500 ustang twin screw upgrade. Just contact him. Hes a pleasure to work with. Besides teh kit you will need to purchase some other things such as larger injectors a larger Maf, boring your TB if you like and some maf to TB piping and couplers. Mine wont go on till spring.....But hey....I have some nice tires to test..Oh and realize er do not have a traction lock type differential....one tire fryer
Ok an update. Wanted to put update in heading but.....So I did notice that my rear inner wells have rub marks on them likely from these new tires. The tires however have no marring so it must be ever so slight. Wouldn't stop me from doing it again.
As for the fronts..I recently had an air strut issue and when fully collapsed the car will rub the otter fender. I actually bent my fender lip making a turn. Unsure if a factory height tires would do that as well under the same conditions. Anyways I wanted to mention these two observations

Such a lovely timing, my winter tires with same sizes as yours are arriving today
I've ordered them even before the car has arrived.
Do you think a very thin spacer would solve the issue in the back?
About the front, you made a turn with the air suspension fully collapsed? What kind of issue was that? Would it have rubbed or bent the fender lip without turning?
