i have a 2007 XJ6 (second owner)

my problem is with the remote transmitter(key fob). it will only lock/unlock doors on short distance for example if i am 5 meters away from my car, if i go further away it won't work?

is this normal?

I already changed the battery with a new one but still same thing, i have no idea if this is the normal range for jaguars but its kinda sad to see ford/kia/hyundai remotes work from 20 meters+

any ideas?

 

I used mine today and it must have been 25 metres away.

I think it's the driver's door module that it's talking to and unplugging it a couple of times and cleaning the plug/sockets

with electrical cleaner may help but would it be worth the time?

 

What is the date on the package?
Battery's have a long, but limited lifespan.
You may have installed a new, but a weak, out of date battery.
