Default Shut lines

A good old search and couldn't find find much about our cars and the shut lines. My right rear door sticks out around 6-7mm. Doesn't seem much, but it is visually.

The trim around the door is somewhat protruding as well. It could contribute, but I but I doubt it's the sole reason for the ill shut line. I wonder what might be the cause. There has been no accident that may have resulted in this. Is there some sort of adjustment for door shut?

No accident, are you the original owner?
If not, you can be misled by a Car Fax report.
If an incident, or accident was never reported.
Then it will not be on the report.

You need to examine the trim and sort that out first.

It may resolve the problem.
Also examine the door latch on the body to see if it has moved.

Perhaps I should refrain from leading questions. New Zealand is one of the least corrupt countries in the world. It's shame really. I'd love to be able to buy my way out of the odd pickle. More corruption and more cowbell I say!

"Carfax" doesn't exist in the south Pacific. We have Carjam though. I guess it's similar. I've known the car from when it came off the ship from Japan here in port Nelson. I don't recall that gap, so I'm guessing it can be remedied. Hoping there might be an adjustment in the final shut position. I should imagine there will be some at the hinges. The gap on the lines is very good even all the way around. It just latches slightly ajar. I'll figure it out in the end. No harm in asking.

If it's not the seals, you should be able to move and adjust the striker plate to get it flush.
