Sorry if this is simplistic, but I am confused about the model number designations used, I.e. X350, 358, ect.

Can someone please give a simple rundown on this or direct me to a thread?

Thanks so much.

The Jaguar XJ (X350) (2003–2006) is a large, four-door, front-engine, rear drive luxury sedan/saloon manufactured and marketed by Jaguar Cars and facelifted as the XJ (X358) (2007–2009). The X350 is the third generation of Jaguar's XJ sedan, succeeding the X308 (1997–2002).
Featuring traditional exterior and interior styling, a V6 or V8 engine and automatic transmission, the XJ was completely re-engineered and was noted for its aluminum monocoque bodywork.

The X350 was facelifted for the 2008 model year, a design unveiled at the end of February 2007. The car featured a mildly revised front grille and new front bumper assembly with a prominent lower grille. Branding changed from the cast bonnet ornament to a Jaguar emblem within the grille featured also on the XK and the XF.[4] The front lights had detail changes while the revised door mirrors incorporated side repeaters. The front wings on all models were remodelled to feature side vents, previously featured on the Super V8 Portfolio (and XJR Portfolio in the UK), while the side sills, rear bumper and tail lights were revised.
The interior was only slightly changed from its predecessor, featuring redesigned front seats with additional support and allowing rear passengers over a metre of legroom.[5]

You mean they're Jaguars? Really?
sorry, couldn't resist.
Thanks for the info. Beautiful car there, just gorgeous.
I am really enjoying my research here. Great board.
I think I definitely want a 350 ( I feel so "in the club" now using the lingo, lol) thanks again!

Reason for these model designation numbers on the forum is that Jaguar have used "XJ" for their big saloon since 1968. My XJ6 (X350) is the seventh iteration of the XJ saloon. Each one had a slightly different style but all similar to the original of 1968. The eighth iteration, the current model, (X351), is, of course of a totally different style.

Lots of mechanical parts are carried over from the previous model, though.
