Starter removal
If it is like my 2005 XJR it is on the passenger side bottom rear of engine just rear of the alternator.
I had to remove the engine support bracket to get the alternator out and you may have to do the same to get at the alternator.

JTIS does not state that anything need be removed in order to R&R the starter. Remove negative cable from battery, remove leads from starter, remove bolts and remove. Reverse to install.
That is good news.
That is good news. The starter in my Northstar V8 Cadillac was located underneath the intake manifold! Eventually I had to replace two starters over the time I owned it. It seemed like a dumb place to locate a starter, but the factory claimed it prolonged starter life by protecting it from dirt, moisture and the heat of the exhaust system. Maybe. I believe that the Lexus V8 and the Infiniti V8 may have a similar set up. The starter in my OHC 4.6 V8 Mustang is located in the conventional location. Believe me, I checked that out before i bought it! Happy Holidays!
Hi Tom -
How did it go? I may have starter trouble myself just this morning. your findings as to the location and removal of your starter will be worth a million to me.
