I've had my 2004 xj8 for about 2 years, have about 19 miles on it, and for the past year I've just had it in the garage sitting there. I tried to start it and it doesn't start, doesn't turn over/crank over. I've checked battery, replaced it and tried jump starting it, but still no success.
Does anyone know if there's any known problems with them sitting for a LONG period of time? Everything seems to light up on the dash/navigation unit/radio works, the air ride suspenssion doesn't fill up, can't remember if it used to fill up with air as soon as I turned the ignition or after I started the car. Does anyone have any pointers/suggestions I can look at before I take it in? Someone suggested that the computer loses 'its memory' if the car sits without power for more then 6 months, and need to be reprogrammed. Has anyone else encountered this? Any advise is appreciated - Thanks in advance.

 

It doesn't crank, there's no noise whatsoever when I turn the key.
Lights on dash lite up then when I turn key to 'start' position, they kinda go out and come back on when I release. I know it has power cause I have new battery and/charger hooked up to it, just in case.

Not sure what the pats LED is? Can you pls tell me where its located and what its 'purpose' is?
I tried both keys same result, the keyfobs work, locks/unlocks the vehicle/trunk.

 

When I turn the key to on position - the red LED on dash flashes, I wouldnt necessarly say rapidlly. Should it stay steady when the ignition is in ON position? Maybe it is just a programming that I need to have done.
