Steering wheel adjustment issue
Hello, I am a new member, I currently own a 2005 XJ8L the car is in excellent condition with the exception of one problem. The tilt and telescopic wheel does not function. It does not make any sense it does not even attempt to move, when you switch the dial indicator to automatic or two steering the dash indicates that you have selected the proper situation, and when it’s on petals, petals move as they should I took the cover off and looked to see if there were any wires that had been disconnected. Everything appears to be in good shape. I also looked at the fuse which I am assuming would be the same as the tilt steering mechanism, and it was fine as well. Any help would be greatly appreciate it in advance.
Probably find the feature has been physically disabled because you have a failed gear in the steering column adjustment mechanism.
My pedal height adjustment is currently not working due to a split in a drive gear as well (a known issue for this mechanism).
Minimum Jaguar part is a whole adjustment mechanism which is appropriately priced and probably unavailable, but you can probably look get a new gear cast or cut if you can find someone to do it.

IF your issue is the broken plastic gear.
Curless Auto Repair in Grand Rapids Mi 49503.
Phone # 616-988-1315, has the solution.
A solid brass gear, to replace the faulty plastic one.
Replaced the braken gear on both of mine, they work well now.

Curless had none in stock when I contacted them several months ago, but they are taking orders and will get another batch made as soon as they have secured enough interest to make the next viable low volume production run.
