The Stereo has quit working in my 04 XJR. WHen you push the power button some times the Channel numbers will come up and sometimes they wont..eaither way No sound ever comes out. I was thinking it may be the switch but the music never plays even when it says its on. Any ideas or similar experiences? (oh and this is the Basic system, No Navigation)

 

Just trying to gather more info... Does it play a single CD? Do you have a CDC, if so, do they play? Does the display function properly, just no sound? Can you please post a pic of what you see when it's "on", but no sound? When it's "on" and have sound? etc? Ty

it would display as normal for CD and for Radio just without sound. For some reason it started working again by itsself so im just going to leave it alone for now i guess lol. I just have to remember not to turn it Off.

 

My first thought is a ground and you hit a bump and the connection came back better. Something similar happened to me when I had my 04 XJR and that was it. I don't recall which one it was so I thought it couldn't hurt to take them all off, use a brass brush and clean the posts, wires, nuts, etc. no more issues like that, just my $0.02
