Default Stupid Question

I have had my 2007 VDP for two years now. When I got it the boot release on the key fob would just pop the boot off the latch, but not open it all the way up. Now after two years I am starting to wonder if the pneumatic struts are supposed to raise the boot all the way when I press the key fob.

The struts are weaker now that it is cold and I am wondering if I should replace them.

The struts just 'pop' the lid, they don't raise it all the way.

If yours is getting weak they need replacing, they don't last forever, unfortunately. I had to replace mine and got some very cheap ones as I was short of cash at the time. They still work, but look doggy. Try ebay for replacements.
