Hey all of you X350 gurus..

I'm thinking of picking up a 2006-2007 XJR within the next year, when a nice example comes up for sale.

Unfortunately, a Super V8 Portfolio will be out of my price range, but I love the veneer in them, much better than the standard burl walnut. Probably my favorite part about the car, save for the black cherry paint and those aluminum milled side vents

Does anyone know if it would be possible to have the existing panels refinished by Madera, or another professional veneer shop, to match the satin finish black walnut in the Super V8 portfolio?

Madera can most likely do it. I believe they were suppliers to Jaguar at one time. I have been to their shop. Incredible work, but not cheap 😄

 

Definitely not cheap.. I'm expecting it would be around the $2000 mark

I'm going to hold off on contacting them until I find the right car, and see what my budget is. Probably next year sometime (But I always like to think ahead...)

But most of the burled walnut I see in X350 XJRs I'm looking at is either really busy or has a faded/reddish tint to it that just doesn't seem very classy to me.

For some reason the same veneer in my XK8 is much darker and more subtle.

And the satin finish with the linear grain just really stands out to me as a more modern look.
