Suspension Bushings
Don, what do you think of these Powerflex X350 bushings? It at least seems to give a complete list of the bushings on the X350. They're mostly $60-90 per bushing. They claim,
Which of these bushings come with the Bilstein air shocks? I'm replacing my air shocks (with Miesslers), and want to get the bushings that I should replace at the same time, but not the ones that come with the air shocks. It looks to me like the "Rear Lower Arm Inside Rear / Outer Bushing 54 mm" is the only one that comes with my rear air shocks.
Stock rubber control arm bushings give a disconnected and mushy feel to the front suspension, especially when worn, as the bushing deflects more than it should. You get sloppy steering, vibrations, and poor handling which makes the car feel unstable. These urethane bushings are stiffer than stock rubber and will not deflect as much. This helps keep the alignment in check with less variation. The car feels more planted and confidence-inspiring. And a lifetime warranty means you'll likely never have to pay for another bushing ever again!
Hi Xeno,
I'm going to move your post to start your own thread in the X350 forum since your suspension is completely different from the X300.
In general, I have not had good success with polyurethane bushings in Jaguars. They tend to provide a noticeably firmer ride than the original rubber bushings, sometimes to the point of being uncomfortable and irritating. Also, they must be well lubricated when installed, and tend to develop annoying squeaks and creaks over time. But research user reports here on the Jaguar Forums by using the Advanced Search function. You may find that some members have been pleased with the Powerflex or other poly bushings.
Cheers,
Don
