Default suspension and cat warning lights on

Hi, I have a 2003 3.5 XJ with 118000miles and for the last 12 months or so there was an intermittent fault causing the warning light to come on some times, then it may not come on again for a few days, main dealer tested it and said there did not seem anything wrong, I know that the early cars had these dodgy warning light issues.
More recently when the light would come on I thought that the ride seemed more firm, the car height and level always seemed fine.
A couple of weeks ago the light came on again and also the Cat warning was on as well, never seen this one before.
The Cat light does not come on if the car has just been started and is idling but as soon as it goes into gear and moves it comes on straight away.
the suspension light seems to be on much more often now, it actually comes on within about 15 miles of driving, unless it comes on straight away.
the ride quality is now really harsh, imagine a car that normally has , say 15" wheels and then you put on a set of 20" ones, you feel all the ridges and it is awful.
The local main dealer are really brill, they have been doing my cars for nearly 20 years now and are also baffled by it.
Initially they diagnosed a short circuit and they believe the 2 warnings are linked somehow.
They have changed the main suspension valve unit in the boot and then one of the shocks, still no joy, the car is in there at the moment and the poor technician has been on it all week so far, as well as last week as well.
they have had it on diagnosis but are stumped,
Does anyone out there have any ideas please, thanks in advance

just a quick update, they had changed the offside rear shock first, now they have refitted the original offside one to the rear nearside, this has cured the "cat warning light", after changing a corroded connector somewhere the main suspension light still came on, as a final job the compressor at the front was changed, bingo !!, done 250 miles now and problem has gone away.
Very pleased with their service though, they have not charged for all the diagnostic hours and only charged the ( discounted) price for the components and the "book price" for the hours to fit those parts, a total of about 4 hours where they were actually spending many many more hours on it.

yes they are very good, I have been going there for near on 20 years and that is also a major reason for me to stay loyal to Jaguar as well, they know I have limited funds compared to large company owned cars etc and help me where ever possible , in past times I have supplied parts and they have fitted them. On my last car, a 2000 XJ8 Sov the transmission failed, I sourced a second hand box from Ebay and also 10 litres of the special fluid from another ebay seller as well and had it delivered straight to the garage, they did the swapover while I was on holiday and it was finished when I got back, total cost in the region of "1200 as opposed to £4000 for a new box !!!
they also offer a discounted rate on your work if the car is over 4 years old, really cannot praise them high enough.
always worth a dozen bottles of wine at Christmas for all concerned, desk staff and workshop men.

Previous Jaguar cars; 1983 4.2 Sov, 1988 3.6 Sov,1990 4.0 Sov,1994 3.2 Sov, 1998 4.0 LWB Sov, 2000 LWB Sov

Current Cars; 1983 Audi 90CD, 1999 Merc E240 Estate,2003 Transit Van , 2003 XJ8 3.5 SE

I've heard the air suspension can be troublesome. A price to pay for such a smooth, soft ride. Another mystery solved!
